My mother was recently falsely accused of a crime, at 76 years old. I hired another law firm that I was very happy with in the Past. Unfortunately, the attorney I hired passed away halfway through my legal proceedings and I had to scramble to find another firm /attorney to represent me. I did some quick research, read some reviews and it came down to two firms. The 1st firm, didn't answer the phone and took about 2 days to return my call. By that time I had already spoken to David and was on my way in to pay my retainer. For the most part, the beginning seemed pretty standard, fairly normal. I can be stubborn at times so I am sure I was more of a pain to them, but they never showed it. What sets this firm apart, specifically David, my attorney, was when we got into the court room. I could tell right away that this was Business as Usual for David and it was like watching a boxer getting ready to fight for the title. Given my circumstances, it made sense to plea to 1 misdemeanor charge, instead of taking 3 to trial. But it took me till the day before trial and a lot of debate with David to concede, But David was right. I think its important to point out though that David didn't want me to take a plea because it would of meant less work on his part, he truly felt that it was my best option or route to take. After my plea we went straight into a restitution hearing and again this is where David shined. I can be very critical, especially when it involves something like this. I cant tell you enough how impressed I was with David's Confidence, his courtroom Presence, his Readiness, his level of understanding of even the smallest Details of my case, the Questions he asked, he left no stone unturned and no pertinent question unasked. So I got pulled over and got arrested by the Mesa Police Department for an unfair marijuana DUI. The Grand Canyon Law group took my case and assigned to me Alex Rubel. Even though I was a low income worker, Grand Canyon Law Group worked out a payment plan with me, and they were very patient and understanding when it came to the payments. Honestly when the whole process started I sort of isolated myself and put my case and responsibilities lower on my priority list for a short while but even while doing that, Mr. Hayes and the rest of the team continued to work/stay on top of my case. I was facing some serious charges an was very scared, I had no one to turn to. I was first given Ryan's number it was after hours I figured I would leave a message but he answered he listened to my whole story an made me feel like everything would be ok. By that next day he was already gathering evidence. When I first started my case, I had a public defender. After several hearings, I felt like my concerns were not being heard and that the evidence I had was not being taken seriously. I was made to feel hopeless, like I was already being treated as though I was going to jail. I had so many questions and concerns, but I didn't feel like I was getting the answers or support I needed. After my second hearing, I knew I needed to find another option.
That is when I reached out to Grand Canyon Law for Criminal Defense, and from the very first phone call, I felt like someone finally cared and that there was hope.
I went to their Phoenix office and had the opportunity to meet their team and the owners, John and Curtis. They listened to me, took the time to hear my side of the story, reviewed the evidence I had, and reassured me that my situation was not hopeless.
They had less than a month to prepare for my bench trial. In that short amount of time, they went through everything — body-camera footage, photographs, videos, recordings, police reports, medical records, and the other evidence involved in my case. They put together a strategy and worked incredibly hard to prepare for trial.
Curtis was professional, honest, straightforward, and respectful throughout the entire process. He wasn't afraid to stand up for me and challenge the evidence when necessary. He fought for me and made sure my side of the story was heard.
What impressed me most was the way Curtis and the entire team treated me. They treated me like a human being, not just another case number. They listened to me, believed in me, worked with me, and fought for me all the way to the end.
Honestly, with the short amount of time they had, I wasn't sure what was possible. But they exceeded my expectations and got all of my charges dropped.
More importantly, they helped me get back home to my wife and kids. Being able to come home to my family means more to me than I could ever put into words.

I don't normally leave reviews, but in this case (figuratively and literally), I am. We were looking at some serious time and charges due to something stupid I did when I was a juvenile. The court waited till I was almost 18 to charge me so I would be tried in adult court. The public defender wanted to plea out the case which would send me to prison and additional. The public defender didn't want to even look into the case more or understand why I did what I did when I was a kid. I went to the Grand Canyon Law firm and hired David Lish. He not only listened and understood what happened but was willing to fight it to the end. Due to his excellent research and dedication David got this case dismissed entirely, something a public defender would never have done. I would highly recommend hiring an attorney as David then going through a public defender.

First of all, I would like to say I am what is referred to as a "bad" client (just from past weed convictions). When I met with the public sender, he told me that he has looked over this case and there is no way to win. I fired him immediately. Upon recommendation, I hired Ryan Mcphie and the GCLG.
