UNLAWFUL DISCHARGE
Unlawful discharge occurs when someone shoots a firearm at a time or place where the law prohibits it. For example, firearms may not be allowed in certain prohibited areas like a courthouse. FELON IN POSSESSION OF A FIREARM
Previous offenders cannot own guns. A convicted felon could face serious consequences for possessing a firearm. This is especially true if they are still on probation.
CARRYING A FIREARM IN A PROHIBITED AREA
Since 2010, Arizona’s “constitutional carry” laws have allowed anyone who can legally own a firearm to open carry after turning 18 or concealed carry after age 21 without any additional permits. However, prohibited locations for carrying a firearm include:

- Power plants, including nuclear and hydroelectric plants
- Military bases and installations

- Courthouses and other federal and state buildings

USING A WEAPON WHEN COMMITTING ANOTHER CRIME
Many gun crimes occur in conjunction with other crimes, making the penalties even more serious. Examples include aggravated assault, assault with a deadly weapon, and armed robbery or burglary.
